To Christ We Hold
Based on the Westminster phrase, “To Christ, despite all, we hold.” This was specifically written to be an encouraging anthem for any struggling seminary student — Our pursuit is great, our God is greater, and we must cling to Christ.
The Rock That Stands
Inspired by my Systematic Theology professor’s story of his house falling down — The Rock That Stands reminds us of the epistemological treason in the Garden, and God’s prelapsarian revelation. You know… All the good stuff!
His Word Gives Sight To See
Inspired by a Systematic Theology 101 discussion around how God’s special revelation, His Word, provides the lens for how we are to see the world.
Live Not By Bread Along
Inspired by the 5 solas of the Reformation, Live Not By Bread Alone declares God’s unified special revelation and His eternal plan to bring salvation to His people. This version is with the additional refrain/chorus.
Beams Beneath The Floor
Based on Van Til’s quote, “We cannot prove the existence of beams under the floor if by proof we mean that they must be ascertainable in the way that we can see the chairs and tables of the room.” Van Til, Christian Apologetics. Additionally, references to CS Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien.

Verse 1:
Before the dark chaotic void
Your perfect tension held
Your Wisdom, power, majesty
Your revelation tells.
We walked in step with immanence
Yet to sin our hearts were sold.
But to Christ…
Despite All…
We hold!
Verse 2:
Now to the Word! Your Spirit calls,
To give us minds renewed.
And show us Lord, the glorious Christ
In the knowledge we pursue.
And by the fiery coals of grace
Grant us tongues of gold.
But to Christ…
Despite All…
We hold!
Verse 3:
So Let Your truth ring like a bell.
The Whole Council declares.
Souls that search for living streams
He puts within our care.
To teach, to preach, to minister
To hearts that may be cold.
But to Christ…
Despite All…
We hold!
Verse 4:
Our ears made sharp to aid our sight
Our prayers made more than talk.
Our lives laid out across the gate
To watch over Your flock.
The sheep are crying in the night
There’s wolves among the fold.
But to Christ…
Despite All…
We hold!
Verse 5:
Now through the eschaton we ride
ablaze with victory
No man arise, no beast descend
Will turn our eyes from thee
With armor bright and sword now sharp,
A calling to be bold.
But to Christ…
Despite All…
We hold!
But to Christ…
Despite All…
We hold!

Verse 1
Before I see, there must be light,
Before I know, a mind;
By Your light the world is seen,
By Your word defined.
I trust the hand I cannot see,
The voice that shaped the skies;
You are the sun by which I see,
The Light before my eyes.
Chorus
You’re the love in the Logos,
You’re the reason things are real;
You’re the might within the meek,
You felt what mortals feel.
Nothing was before You,
You will reign forevermore;
When I see the table, lamp, and chair,
I’ll remember —
You’re the beams beneath the floor.
Verse 2
The morning fights the fading night,
The tide withdraws, returns;
The flame consumes, the earth renews,
Creation lives and learns.
Each tension tells a deeper peace,
Each balance shows You more—
The fellowship that formed the world,
The beams beneath the floor.
Chorus
You’re the love in the Logos,
You’re the reason things are real;
You’re the might within the meek,
You felt what mortals feel.
Nothing was before You,
You will reign forevermore;
When I see the table, lamp, and chair,
I’ll remember —
You’re the beams beneath the floor.
Verse 3
A house of sand, the pagan’s pride,
Will falter, fade, and fall;
For reason, severed from its root,
Cannot account at all.
But when our proofs return to You,
Our sight grows clear once more—
The Father, Son, and Spirit stand,
The beams beneath the floor.
Chorus
You’re the love in the Logos,
You’re the reason things are real;
You’re the might within the meek,
You felt what mortals feel.
Nothing was before You,
You will reign forevermore;
When I see the table, lamp, and chair,
I’ll remember —
You’re the beams beneath the floor.

Verse:
Our house we built with stone,
And swore that it would stand.
Though careful all our work may be,
And strength was laid in every beam,
’Tis kept only by Your hand.
Verse:
The tempest battered on,
The wall gave way and groaned.
Yet in the ruin mercy reigned,
A whisper from the Builder came—
“Look to your eternal home.”
Chorus:
The storms may rage, and walls may fall,
Yet the House of Christ stands sure all tall.
Now here I live, by your Spirit’s call,
On the Rock that stands before the Fall.
Verse:
So teach my soul to rest,
And build my life on Thee.
No tower of pride, no work of mine,
But faith upon Thy word divine,
To stand eternally.
Verse:
When earth and time arrive,
At their long awaited end,
The City bright shall rise above,
We see the Father, Spirit, Son,
And we dwell with Him again.
Chorus:
The storms may rage, and walls may fall,
Yet the House of Christ stands sure all tall.
Now here I live, by your Spirit’s call,
On the Rock that stands before the Fall.
Bridge:
So teach my soul to rest,
And build my life on Thee.
No tower of pride, no work of mine,
But faith upon Thy word divine,
To stand eternally.
Chorus:
The storms may rage, and walls may fall,
Yet the House of Christ stands sure all tall.
Now here I live, by your Spirit’s call,
On the Rock that stands before the Fall.
Chorus:
The storms may rage, and walls may fall,
Yet the House of Christ stands sure all tall.
Now here I live, by your Spirit’s call,
On the Rock that stands before the Fall.

Chorus:
Hear, O Church, the Lord our God,
His Word gives sight to see.
Our heart, soul, mind, and strength may fail,
Hallelujah, Christ removed the veil,
By His Word our eyes can see.
Verse 1:
God placed the man in Eden’s field,
With fruit on every tree.
He said, “From all you may partake,
But this one belongs to Me.”
But when they saw the fruit was good,
Delightful to their eyes,
They closed their ears from what He said,
And chose a serpent’s lies.
Verse 2:
His thunder rolled on Sinai’s height,
His promise carved in stone.
Yet Israel crowned a lesser voice,
A king of flesh and bone.
The prophets cried from barren hills,
Their warnings went unheard.
Exiled from their garden land,
And silent fell the Word.
Chorus:
Hear, O Church, the Lord our God,
His Word gives sight to see.
Our heart, soul, mind, and strength may fail,
Hallelujah, Christ removed the veil,
By His Word our eyes can see.
Verse 3:
A voice cried in the wilderness,
“Make straight the glorious way!”
The Word long silent will speak again,
And night gave birth to day.
The hosts of heaven filled the night,
Their chorus shook the sky.
“Glory to God, the king has come,
The Way, The Truth, The Life!”
Verse 4:
No blemish marred this spotless lamb,
By his ears he walked by sight.
His Father said, “Now take this cup,”
Obedience His delight.
The Gospel speaks to us today,
By few that heed the call,
To preach the Word victoriously
to make Christ know to all!
Chorus:
Hear, O Church, the Lord our God,
His Word gives sight to see.
Our heart, soul, mind, and strength may fail,
Hallelujah, Christ removed the veil,
By His Word our eyes can see.
Bridge/Verse 5:
The voice that spoke the world to life
Still calls our hearts today.
Though eyes still dim and days still dark,
His Word will blaze the way.
And when He speaks and He descends
with heaven and earth made one,
All eyes of men transfixed upon
the Father, Spirit, Son!
Chorus:
Hear, O Church, the Lord our God,
His Word gives sight to see.
Our heart, soul, mind, and strength may fail,
Hallelujah, Christ removed the veil,
By His Word our eyes can see.
Chorus:
Hear, O Church, the Lord our God,
His Word gives sight to see.
Our heart, soul, mind, and strength may fail,
Hallelujah, Christ removed the veil,
By His Word our eyes can see.
